Unhealthy eating. Junk food concept. cravings, weightloss

Warning! This post might make you a little uncomfortable.

I have to mention it because if you’re anything like me, you might be a little worried about holiday weight gain. Today I’m sharing with you one of the top strategies I use to help navigate temptations that seem to be all around us this time of year.

Is your office or your home filling up with gift baskets of goodies or are your kitchen counters strewn with cookies from holiday baking fests? I know there are so many temptations around this time of year, so I wanted to give you one of my top strategies for eating healthy when that little voice inside your head says, “Ah screw it, what’s 1 more cookie on top of the 3 I already had?!”  This trick will help you during the holidays and anytime of year for that matter. And, it will help you tap into your personal power and intuition.

Take a piece of paper and draw a line down the center. On one side write down a list of your favorite foods that give you energy. On the other side, write down the foods that you may enjoy eating, but that might make you feel sluggish. The next time you go to eat, or break off a piece of gooey whatever cake or pie (because broken pieces don’t count right?) Ask yourself if this is going to elevate your energy or drain your energy in the long run. How do you feel when you eat high energy foods consistently?

The problem with most diet programs is that they focus on what NOT to eat. This can feel like deprivation, and while that may work for a short period of time, eventually we give in because there’s no pleasure in deprivation. It doesn’t feel fun, right?

So the strategy we use here is instead of focusing on what you don’t get to eat, we focus on what you DO get to eat. ‘I get to eat high-energy foods that make me feel (more vibrant, playful, fun, less angry, etc).’  How awesome is that!

This is how we start nurturing a healthy relationship between body and food. We train ourselves to feel pulled naturally towards supportive habits versus self-destructive ones. Do this consistently and you’ll be vibrating at a higher frequency.

I don’t mean to get all woo-woo on you, but I like to think about it in terms of smog. Have you ever noticed that a lot of people are walking around in a complacent smog fog? They are going through the everyday motions of life, but they have almost forgotten how to tap into personal power.

When you are in touch with personal power you feel unstoppable, you make crystal clear decisions, you feel focused, creative, patient, loving and in tune with your own body. One of the things that I would love for my clients to get from our work together is tuning in to their own intuition.

This is the place where you feel aligned in every aspect of your life, where you feed yourself high-energy foods because to do anything else wouldn’t make sense. This is really an opportunity to live into the highest experience of life, of aliveness that you can have!

Now it’s your turn, grab your handy worksheet here and write down what foods give you energy vs. deplete it. As a bonus, I’m including a list of foods you can try out based on how you would like to feel. You definitely want to check it out!

Leave a comment below and share with us some of the foods that lift you up vs. drag you down and how each of them make you feel.
